The Skin Report: SUMMERTIME SKIN

Outdoor activities aren't what I run to. In fact, I recall always having a headache and wanting to visit the school nurse during field day events. Main objective; getting out of the sun because I didn't want to be hot!

One of the most common myths among people of color is we don't need sunscreen or sun protection. This my friend is not true. We all need to protect our skin from the sun.

Breaking down SPF - SPF is the Sun Protection Factor. How long does it take before your skin burns? The length of time you can stay out in the sun without burning, multiplied by the SPF number on your favorite moisturizer.

Example:
Your skin burns after 10 minutes in the sun.
You have a skin cream with SPF 15
You have sun protection for up to 150 minutes without having to reapply

Now, without rocket science, we can say this will vary. Think about your clothing, activities, sweating, etc. If you're sweating, the sunscreen won't last as long compared to someone who isn't. Reports indicate that you should apply accordingly.

I love Specific Beauty Daily Hydration Lotion with SPF 30. It does not leave my skin oily and no white cast that sometimes occur with products containing SPF.
