Knowing your skin type is
YOUR GUIDE
to choosing
THE PERFECT FORMULA..
How to determine YOUR skin type:
Normal Skin
Even complexion
Neither too oily or too dry
Pores appear small in size
Few breakouts or minimal to no acne
Oily Skin
All-over shine
Pores appear large or open
Blemishes: blackheads/whiteheads
Minimal lines and wrinkles
Combination Skin
T-zone is oily
Cheeks may appear dry
Pores in the chin and cheek area appear enlarged/open
Dry Skin
Pores are almost undetected
Skin looks and feels dry
Some areas may appear flaky
How to determine YOUR formula:
My personal favorite is Cream Foundation. It is buildable and provides a creamy consistency that is perfect for dry skin. Creams work to lock in moisture, minimize pores and can add a dewy glow to the skin. Cream can be applied with your fingers, a sponge or brush.
Stick Foundation also falls under the category of a cream formula. It is very similar in consistency to cream foundation. It is a very quick and easy formula to use. You can just apply it directly to your skin from the tube. It is great for spot correction to the complexion.
Liquid Foundation is the most common formula used among women. It can be used for all skin types and is universal. It can also be purchased in oil-free, and waterproof formulas. Liquid can be applied with a sponge or brush.
Powder Foundation is a smooth formula and provides a great flawless look for oily skin. The ingredients of the powder help to absorb the oil and keep you dry and smooth. Do not confuse powder foundation with pressed finishing or setting powders. They are not the same and they serve different purposes. Powder Foundations can be applied using a powder puff or a brush, which gives the best application.
